DRC – Re-election of Mr Felix Tshisekedi as President of the Democratic Republic of Congo (10 January 2024)

France congratulates Mr Felix Tshisekedi on his re-election as President of the Democratic Republic of Congo. It calls on all Congolese political and civil society actors to work towards dialogue and contribute to a climate of calm and national cohesion.

France reaffirms its determination to strengthen its ties with the Democratic Republic of Congo, as President Macron stated during his visit to Kinshasa on 3 March 2023.

Against the background of tensions in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, France reiterates its support for regional initiatives to bring about a peaceful, lasting solution to the current crisis. It calls on all the parties to engage in dialogue to enable people to see peace and security restored.
